A source of β-Caryophyllene from black pepper (Piper nigrum L.)
Black pepper berries are known for the presence of the pungent compound piperine. However, it was found that the essential oil of black pepper is rich in a sesquiterpene with extremely interesting properties: (E)-β-caryophyllene.
Recent studies show that (E)-β-caryophyllene significantly reduces the hyperalgesia of the oral cavity, stimulates the production of insulin, reduces the production of proinflammatory cytokines, and reduces the intracellular concentrations of triglycerides.
PipeNig® contains a high concentration of the sesquiterpene (E)-β-caryophyllene. Because of its weak aromatic flavor, (E)-β-caryophyllene is commercially used as a food additive (FDA approved) and in cosmetic products.
Notably, (E)-β-caryophyllene has recently been identified as a natural selective agonist of the peripherally expressed cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2). (E)-β-caryophyllene DOES NOT bind to the type 1 cannabinoid receptor (CB1) of the central nervous system and therefore DOES NOT exerts psychoactive effects.
PipeNig® contains the highest content of (E)-β-caryophyllene (80%) from black pepper (Piper nigrum) on the market.
The major advantages of both powder and liquid PipeNig® are:
The quantitative chemical characterization is based on gas-chromatography combined with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for identification and authentication of (E)-β-caryophyllene and on gas chromatography coupled to flame ionization detector (GC-FID) for the quantification of (E)-β-caryophyllene;
The analytical methods used ensure high quality of the bioactive ingredient (E)-β-caryophyllene;
The precise quantification allows accurate and reliable formulation of products based on PipeNig®;
PipeNig® contains the highest content of (E)-β-caryophyllene from black pepper on the market.
PipeNig® is present in two types:
Ideal for softgels, and for all fluid nutraceutical or cosmetic preparations.
Fluid oil with a very high concentration of (E)-β-caryophyllene: 800 g/kg.
Ideal for the preparation of tablets, capsules, pills, sachets.
The sputtering technique at low temperatures (20-30 °C) patented by Biosfered S.r.l. allows to obtain a powder product containing 30% (300 g/kg) (E)-β-caryophyllene.
